Report spam and block a sender in your customer inbox
A sales pitch or a scam landed in one of your customer inbox channels, by email, text, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger or Instagram. Anyone who can reply in that channel can report it and block the sender. For the chat on your website, see Block spam and abuse on your web chat.
Report spam
Section titled “Report spam”- Open the conversation’s thread.
- Click ⋯ on the bar over the message box, then Report spam.
- Leave Block ticked to stop the sender’s next messages. For email from a company’s own domain, you can also tick Block everyone at that domain.
- Click Report spam.
The conversation closes and its card shrinks to one line marked Spam. Nobody’s notified and no automatic reply goes out.
Block someone who isn’t spam
Section titled “Block someone who isn’t spam”For someone who’s abusive rather than selling something, click ⋯, then Block sender. The conversation closes as usual, and what they send next goes to Spam.
Get something back
Section titled “Get something back”- On a card marked Spam, or on the bar in its thread, click Not spam. It opens again and its blocks are lifted.
- Messages from blocked senders never reach a channel. An owner or admin finds them in the Admin Center under Integrations → Customer inbox → Spam and blocked senders, on the Spam tab, and clicks Not spam. They’re kept for 30 days.
Unblock, or block by hand
Section titled “Unblock, or block by hand”You need to be an owner or admin. Under Spam and blocked senders in the Admin Center:
- Click Unblock next to an address, domain, number or account.
- Type an email address, a domain like
example.com, or a phone number with its country code, and click Block.
The obvious-spam check
Section titled “The obvious-spam check”Freesbe reads the first message from someone new and files obvious spam as Spam on its own. People you already talk to are never checked. To turn it off for one inbox, click Turn off next to “New senders’ obvious spam goes to Spam” under that inbox in the Admin Center.
