Post New Relic issues to a channel
Connecting New Relic takes about ten minutes. You need a Freesbe admin and someone who can manage alert workflows in New Relic.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Make the channel first, such as
#observability, and add the people on call. - Pick the workflow. Issues post from the workflows you add Freesbe to, so decide which ones are worth a card.
- For the buttons, you’ll need your account ID and a user key (
NRAK-…) from API keys.
In Freesbe
Section titled “In Freesbe”- Open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Monitoring and click Connect under New Relic.
- Name it (New Relic: production), pick the channel and Issues to post.
- Optional: fill in New Relic address (
https://one.newrelic.com) and, in API token, account ID:user key. - Click Connect New Relic. Copy the Freesbe URL (it’s shown once) and the Payload.
In New Relic
Section titled “In New Relic”- Open Alerts → Destinations, add a Webhook, paste the URL in Endpoint URL, and save.
- Open Alerts → Workflows, pick the workflow, and add the Freesbe webhook as a channel.
- Replace the payload with Freesbe’s, keep acknowledged and closed notifications on, and save. Send test notification posts a card right away.
Split issues across channels
Section titled “Split issues across channels”Connect New Relic once per channel, with a destination for each, and add each to the workflows whose issues belong in its channel.
See New Relic for everything the cards show. If nothing arrives, check the workflow’s filter matches the issue, then that its priority is at or above Issues to post.
