Connect GitHub and subscribe your team's channels

How-toFor adminsReviewed Guides: GitHub, Workspace settings

Connecting GitHub takes about five minutes. You need a Freesbe admin who can also install apps on your GitHub organization (an organization owner, or someone an owner allowed).

  • Make the channels first, such as #storefront-dev for one repository’s pull requests and #deploys for every deployment. Make a channel private if its repository is private and not everyone in the workspace should see it.
  • Decide which repositories Freesbe sees. You pick them when installing. Only those can post, show link previews, or get issues from Freesbe.
  1. Open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Dev tools and click Connect GitHub.
  2. GitHub opens. Pick your organization, then Only select repositories and the ones you want (or All repositories), and click Install.
  3. You’re back in Freesbe, and it says GitHub connected.
  1. Under Channel subscriptions, click Subscribe a channel.
  2. Pick the repository and the channel. The default posts pull requests, issues, releases and deployments; tick Reviews, Comments, Commits or Workflow runs for more.
  3. Optional: list labels under Only these labels (bug, customer) to leave the rest out, or name a Branch for commits and workflow runs.
  4. Click Subscribe, then open its ⋯ menu and click Post a sample card to see one in the channel.

People can do the same from the channel itself: /github subscribe northwind-traders/storefront.

Subscribe the same repository more than once, each to its own channel with its own picks: for example pull requests and reviews to #storefront-dev, and only deployments to #deploys.

See GitHub for everything the cards and previews show. If nothing arrives, check the repository is one you picked in GitHub (Settings → GitHub Apps → Freesbe → Configure) and that the subscription is on.
