Call and meet

Phone system add-on

Keep your number, and your desk phones.

Port US and Canadian numbers from your current provider for free; it takes 1 to 3 weeks, and calls keep ringing at your old provider until the move day. Fill in one form and sign the letter of authorization on screen. An admin sets up a desk phone for anyone with SIP credentials, and it rings along with the apps.

  • Keep the number on your website, your van and your business cards.
  • Nothing goes quiet: the old provider keeps ringing until the move day.
  • Know where the request is at every step, with an email each time it moves.
  • Fix a rejected request and resend it without starting over.
  • Use the desk phones you already own, next to the apps.

For Businesses moving from another phone provider, and offices with desk phones to keep.

Phone, Numbers, Moving numbers in: one number with Contoso Telecom moving on Nov 4, and two that need a fix because the account number didn't match

One form, one signature

Click Bring your numbers under Phone, Numbers. Type the numbers to move, one per line, all with the same provider, choose what answers them once they arrive, and when to move them: as soon as possible, or on a date at least a week away. Fill in your provider's account number, the name on the account, the PIN if there is one and the service address exactly as on your bill, and add a recent bill. Then read the letter of authorization, type your name and title, and send it.

  • Most rejections are a name or account number that doesn't match the provider's records
  • Your PIN and the copy of the bill are deleted 30 days after the move ends
Bring your numbers: two numbers to move, answering with the Main menu, moving as soon as possible, and the current provider's account details

Signed on screen

Under Sign, the letter of authorization is on the page: type your full name and your title, tick that you're signing it electronically, and click Send request. No printing, no scanning, no fax to the old carrier. Keep your account with the old provider open until the move day: closing it first can lose the numbers.

Every step, in view

Our team checks the request and sends it to your old provider, and Moving numbers in shows where it is: Sent, Checked, With your provider, the Move day once it's set, and Done. Admins get an email at each step. If the provider turns it down, the request shows Needs a fix with what to correct: click Fix and send again. Change the request until it's with your provider, or cancel the move any time before it's done. On the move day the numbers arrive and answer as you chose.

Desk phones, set up by an admin

The Freesbe apps sign in on their own, so people never see a SIP login. For a desk phone or a softphone, an admin clicks Desk phone next to the person under Phone, Extensions, shows the password, and copies the SIP server, username and password into the phone. It rings along with the Freesbe apps, and a receptionist's can ring first with Follow-Me. Change password gives the login a new one, and the audit log records each time an admin shows or changes it.

Questions

Which plan includes this?
Porting numbers and desk phones are part of the Phone system add-on, on top of any paid plan. Porting itself is free, and a ported number is billed like any other number from the move day.
How long does porting take?
1 to 3 weeks for US and Canadian numbers. Calls keep ringing at your old provider until the move day, so keep that account open until then; closing it first can lose the numbers.
Can I port numbers from more than one provider?
Yes, with one request for each provider, since the numbers in a request must all be with the same one.
Can I take my numbers with me later?
Yes. To keep a number with another provider, contact support to port it out before the numbers are released.
