Zoho Calendar

If your company uses Zoho, you can connect your Zoho Calendar to Freesbe just like a Google or Microsoft calendar. Everyone connects their own, and it does the same things:

  • Free/busy. Teammates see when you’re busy while they find a time for a meeting or book you through a booking link, and your status says 📅 In a meeting while you’re in one.
  • The Calendar app, if you turn it on: your day’s agenda each morning, a reminder with the join link before each meeting, and a message for each new invitation. See Calendar app.

It works with every Zoho data center: the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, India, Australia, Japan, Canada, Saudi Arabia and China. Freesbe talks to Zoho in your own data center only.

  1. Open Preferences from your account menu and choose Calendar.
  2. Click Connect Zoho Calendar. Zoho asks you to sign in. It finds your account’s data center on its own, so sign in as you usually do. It can be a different account from the one you sign in to Freesbe with.
  3. Zoho lists what Freesbe asks for: your name and email address, and when you’re busy. Click Accept.
  4. You’re back in Preferences with Zoho Calendar and your Zoho email address.

Leave Show “In a meeting” while I’m in one on if you want your status set for you. A status you set yourself always wins.

In the desktop app, Connect Zoho Calendar opens Freesbe in your web browser; connect there and the app picks it up.

You have one calendar connected at a time. Connecting Zoho Calendar replaces a Google or Microsoft calendar you connected before, and the other way round.

  1. In Preferences → Notifications → Calendar, under Calendar app, click Turn on the Calendar app.
  2. Zoho asks again, this time to let Freesbe read your calendars and events. Click Accept.
  3. Pick what you get: the Daily agenda and when it comes, Remind me before meetings and Invitations and changes.

Messages come from 📅 Calendar in your DM with yourself, in the workspace you were in when you turned it on. The Calendar app reads your default Zoho calendar.

You get a message when someone invites you, and when a meeting you’re in moves to a new time. Zoho Calendar doesn’t let other apps answer invitations for you, so instead of Yes, Maybe and No the message has Open in calendar, which opens the event in Zoho Calendar to answer it there.

When the organizer cancels a meeting, Zoho takes it off your calendar, so it just drops off your agenda; there’s no separate message.

In Preferences → Notifications → Calendar, click Disconnect. Freesbe gives its access back to Zoho straight away, and forgets what the Calendar app remembered.

If you remove Freesbe in Zoho first (My Account → Connected Apps), Preferences shows Connect your calendar again: click Reconnect to bring it back.

  • Without the Calendar app, Freesbe only asks for your name, email address and free/busy times. It never sees your meetings’ titles, places or who’s in them.
  • With the Calendar app on, it reads your events when a message is due, and doesn’t keep them. It remembers only each upcoming event’s id and times, so a reminder or an invitation goes out once.
  • Freesbe keeps Zoho’s access encrypted, and only reads: it never makes, changes or deletes anything in your Zoho Calendar.

For admins: the Calendar app can be turned off for a workspace in Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Calendar. Guests can’t use it.
