Uptime Kuma
Freesbe takes down and up alerts from Uptime Kuma, the self-hosted monitoring tool. Once an admin connects it:
- Each monitor that goes down posts into the channel you pick as one card, with the monitor’s name, what it checks and why it’s down.
- The same card turns green when the monitor is back up, with how long it was down and a reply under it for everyone following the thread. If it goes down again later, that’s a new card.
- A live problems board pinned in the channel lists every monitor down right now, and reports post on their own every morning or every Monday.
Alerts post as their own member, Uptime Kuma, so their cards are easy to tell apart from people. Uptime Kuma has no acknowledging, so its cards have no buttons.
Connect Uptime Kuma
Section titled “Connect Uptime Kuma”Only owners and admins can connect it. You need an admin of your Uptime Kuma.
- Open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Monitoring and click Connect under Uptime Kuma.
- Give the connection a name, like Uptime Kuma, and pick the channel it posts to.
- Optional: fill in Uptime Kuma address, where you open it (like
https://uptime.example.com), so each card links to its monitor. - Click Connect Uptime Kuma. Freesbe shows the Freesbe URL. Copy it now: it’s only shown once.
Then, in Uptime Kuma:
- Open Settings → Notifications and click Setup Notification.
- Pick Webhook, name it
Freesbe, paste the Freesbe URL in Post URL, and keep the request body as application/json. - Tick Apply on all existing monitors, or turn the notification on in each monitor that should post, and save. Test checks Uptime Kuma can reach Freesbe, but posts nothing: only real down and up alerts make cards.
What the card shows
Section titled “What the card shows”Every monitor that goes down is High (🔴). The card shows the monitor’s name, the address or
host it checks under Checking, Uptime Kuma’s message under Why (like
connect ECONNREFUSED or Request failed with status code 503) and the monitor’s type. A monitor
going into maintenance or pending posts nothing.
The board and reports
Section titled “The board and reports”Like Zabbix, each connection pins a live problems board in its channel, listing the monitors down right now, with how long. Reports count the alerts Freesbe got over the last day or week: down now, total time down, the typical time to recover and the monitors that went down most. See The live problems board and Reports for more.
Questions
Section titled “Questions”Can different monitors go to different channels? Yes. Connect Uptime Kuma once per channel, make a webhook notification for each, and turn each one on in the monitors that belong there.
Does Freesbe need to reach my Uptime Kuma? No. Uptime Kuma sends to Freesbe, so it can stay on your own network. The address is only for links.
Is the URL a secret? Yes: anyone with it can post alerts into the channel. If it leaks, delete the connection and connect again for a new URL.
Using UptimeRobot too? See UptimeRobot. Both can post to the same channel.
