# Connect your own phone carrier

> Keep the numbers and rates you have with DIDHub, Twilio, Telnyx, Bandwidth, Vonage or another SIP carrier, and ring them in Freesbe with your menus, queues and desk phones.

If your company already has numbers with a SIP carrier, you don't have to move them to use
Freesbe's phone system. Connect the carrier, and its numbers ring in Freesbe like any other number.
Here's how Northwind Traders connects its carrier. You need to be an admin, or have the Phone admin
role, and the phone system needs to be on.

## 1. Add your carrier

1. Open the [Admin Center](https://freesbe.net/docs/admin-center/), then **Phone → Your carrier**, and click
   **Connect your carrier**.
2. Pick your carrier. If it isn't listed, pick **Another carrier**.
3. Give it a name, like "Main carrier", and type **Your carrier's SIP address**: where calls out go.
Your carrier may call it the termination URI or outbound proxy. You can add it later.
4. Click **Add carrier**.

## 2. Point your carrier at Freesbe

The **Connect** tab shows what to copy into your carrier's settings:

- **The address to send calls to**, like `sip:northwind.byoc.freesbe.net`. In your carrier, this is
the origination URI, inbound URI, or SIP destination.
- **Freesbe's addresses.** If your carrier only takes calls from addresses it knows, allow all of
  them.

## 3. Tell Freesbe where your carrier's calls come from

Paste your carrier's signaling addresses into **Your carrier's addresses**, one per line or
separated by commas. Your carrier lists them in its help pages. Calls from any other address are
turned away.

Then choose how calls are checked:

- **Addresses only**, for carriers that can't send a password. With Twilio, add your **Twilio
  account SID** too.
- **Addresses and a password**, when your carrier can answer with a username and password.
- **My carrier signs in**, when your carrier registers with Freesbe.

## 4. Set up calls out

Add the username and password your carrier gave you for calls out. Tick **Freesbe signs in to my
carrier** only if your carrier asks Freesbe to register. Click **Save**.

## 5. Add your numbers

1. On the **Numbers** tab, type your carrier's numbers with their country code, like
   `+1 206 555 0170`, and click **Add**.
2. Click **Verify** next to each number and call it from any phone within 10 minutes. Freesbe
checks that the call came through your carrier, and the number shows as **Verified**. Only
verified numbers show as your caller ID on calls out.
3. In **Phone → Numbers**, choose who each number rings: a person, a menu, a queue or a call flow.

## 6. Send calls out through your carrier

On the **Calls out** tab, choose your carrier. Keep **Where calls out may go** on your own country
unless your team calls abroad, and set **Calls at once** to what your carrier allows.

## If something doesn't work

The **Status** tab says what's missing and the last problem Freesbe saw, like "A call came from an
address that isn't on your carrier's list". Add the address your carrier used and try again. If
your carrier stops answering, admins get an email, and another when it's back.

See [Your own carrier](https://freesbe.net/docs/phone/#your-own-carrier) in the phone guide for every setting.
